Through the vision of John Shimp, the Woodstown Eclipse girls youth soccer team formed in the summer of 1999 as the Woodstown United South Jersey Eclipse. In the fall of 2003, the Eclipse moved their club affiliation to the
Woodstown Soccer Club where they currently play. For league competition, the Eclipse compete in the
South Jersey Girls Soccer League (SJGSL) where they won league championships in the 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2006 seasons.
The Eclipse have had much success in statewide competitions. In just their first year, the Eclipse advanced to the quarter-finals of the
New Jersey Youth Soccer (NJYS) Kellogg's Bowl U14 tournament in the spring of 2000. They have twice made the semi-finals (2006, 2007) and once the quarter-finals (2005) of the NJYS NJ National Championship tournament.
In the fall of 2007, the Eclipse organization fielded two teams (U17 and U18) for the first time.
At least 27 former Eclipse players have gone on to play soccer at the college level.
Listed below are the trophies and significant results earned by the team since August 1999:
